Welcome to the

Japan Karate Association

Waikato!

JKA Waikato was founded in January 2012 with a single goal: to offer safe, fun, and competitive karate to anyone desiring to partake. Our Association strives to provide a structure conducive to fair and safe training. Each year, our committee reviews and evaluates current rules and procedures to ensure we offer each student the best and safest experience. We incorporate any updates adopted by the Japan Karate Association into our JKA Waikato syllabus.

Class Formation

Students are assigned to classes based on skill level to create teams of even strength. While considering students’ preferences for training together based on friendships and convenience, we also prioritize fair and competitive training. Therefore, we reserve the right to move students or whole teams into more appropriate skill-level classes if necessary.
